January 2008: Fantastic Review from Georgina Campbell's Great Places to Stay and Eat Harbour Lodge, just next door to the Spinnaker and our sister business, has won a fantastic review from the 2008 edition of Georgina Campbell's Little Black book - Great Places to Stay and Eat. Here's a little of what she had to say: Apart from actually being in a yacht, you are not going to get much closer to the water than when staying at Harbour Lodge. Stunningly located, sitting proud right on the waterfront at Scilly, the appropriately named Harbour Lodge looks out over the fabulous Kinsale Harbour and Marina and is just a magical place to absorb the charm and fascination that is Kinsale. A 4 Star luxurious Guest House, there are nine exclusive and serene bedrooms, including a beautiful two room suite, if you want to push the boat out. Just imagine chilling out with a nice glass of complementary champagne on arrival and gazing out from your balcony over the shimmering water. I spend a lot of time in Kinsale in the winter and I know that any time of the year in Harbour Lodge would be just sheer bliss, and get you totally into relax mode. Not only will you be staying in a unique location at Harbour Lodge, where you will be pampered and spoiled, but owner Siun Tiernan is also a Chef whose speciality is handmade chocolates - now you won't find many other Guesthouses anywhere with that attribute. Your very own chocolate supply literally on tap…..and you do know of course that chocolate is good for you! Owners of both businesses - the Tiernan Family - are very proud of this achievement - this is a true recognition of the care and effort they put into making the Spinnaker and the Harbour Lodge a special place for guests to stay and dine in Kinsale. "Our guests return again and again so we know we're doing it right" says Siun Tiernan, "but having an industry expert like Georgina compliment us is really something. Now all readers of these reviews will know that Harbour Lodge and the Spinnaker are truly worth a visit".
January 2008: New Failte Ireland rating and high scores Harbour Lodge is delighted to announce that it has won a very high classification in its recent Failte Ireland inspection. The inspector was so impressed with Harbour Lodge's continuous efforts to bring an ever more enjoyable experience to guests that it has now achieved a high score of 70%. Classification for Guesthouses is mandatory and the rating is on a scale of 1 - 4 stars. Harbour Lodge has had a four star rating - the highest available for guesthouses - for many years. All four star guesthouses can score points from a range of optional extra facilities and services which are not a mandatory requirement. Harbour Lodge's high score of 70% reflects the additional efforts in terms of comfort and facilities that the Tiernan Family has put in place for guests. On hearing of the achievement of the new high score owner Siun Tiernan said: "We're delighted that this new scoring system will help to show guests what a wonderful experience is waiting for them at Harbour Lodge. Every little detail of luxury and comfort has been added up and now guests can see clearly the high standard they'll experience at Harbour Lodge."

Its long history has ensured this scenic bar has a place in the hearts of locals.
